ZIA HOLLOWAY
Zia Holloway is a strikingly talented young writer and alum of the NFTS Masters screenwriting course. Based in Wales and having grown up in Northumbria, her numerous original projects in development include a grounded sci-fi horror set in the mining community, PITLAND, which is being developed with World Productions, after she won the World Production Writers’ Award in 2021 in conjunction with BBC Wales and the BBC Writersroom. She also has original series in development, THE DEATH OF WHALES with The Development Partnership, WAYWARD with Studio 21, and a cli-fi coming of age thriller TANGERINES in development with the BBC and Fully Focused productions. Zia was part of the BBC Welsh Voices programme in 2022 and her NFTS Graduate short, GOSSIP, was a shortlist for the YUGO student BAFTA Awards in 2023. She currently has two more short films in development with Aluna Entertainment and Academy Award winning production company Slick Films - her work focuses on the representation of her generation in an ever-changing world, using the elements and genres of propulsive thrillers, grounded sci-fi, magical realism and always with characters that leap off the page.
