TOM OXENHAM
Tom Oxenham is a British/Australian writer & director. After training at the National Film & Television School (NFTS) and the National Youth Theatre (NYT), Tom started out directing for theatre, with his production of Dawn King’s FOXFINDER at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015, which was selected for Broadway Baby’s Top Ten Theatre, and shortlisted for the Brighton Fringe Award for Excellence. Tom’s first film, SKIM FOR ENGLAND (one man’s bid to win the World Stone Skimming Championships), won Best Comedy at the Copenhagen Film Festival, Best Homegrown Talent at the Newcastle Film Festival, and Best of the Festival at Grenada Afterglow. His second film, MAN-SPIDER (a short about the spider who bit Peter Parker, starring Harry Michel and Liz Kingsman), was selected for a Vimeo Staff Pick and Film Shortage Pick of the Month, won Best UK Comedy at the Discover Film Awards 2021, and screened at BAFTA-qualifying festivals in the UK and abroad. Tom’s third film THE NICKY NACK (a horror comedy-short starring Alun Armstrong) had its festival run in 2022, having premiered at FrightFest, and having been selected for BAFTA-qualifiers Glasgow Short Film Festival and Norwich Film Festival. It won Best Horror Short at Horrified Film Festival 2022. Tom’s latest project as a writer is the upcoming BBC Radio 4 series THE ISLAND, starring Stephen Mangan, produced by Unusual Productions and Jon Holmes (co-written with Simon Alcock). Tom has directed, produced and production managed commercial work for clients including Universal Music, Agile Films and Knucklehead, and written for BBC Radio 4 sketch show PLEASE USE OTHER DOOR.
