SOPHIE MAIR & DAN GITSHAM
Genre Writer/Directors Sophie Mair and Dan Gitsham are partners in life and film. They are developing a slate of genre feature films, including GINGER, which is in development with the BFI Film Fund and genre producers Rebecca Wolff of Grasp the Nettle Films, and Jude Goldrei of BFI Vision Awardee Lunar Lander Films. Other horror features in development include LADYJAM and ELLA, developed with Creative England, and KEEPER, developed through iFeatures. Sophie and Dan have made a number of award- winning short films including EM Media and UK Film Council funded FILM EIGHT and ELLA (starring Anthony Head), that have screened at over 200 film festivals worldwide, including: Sitges, BFI London Film Festival, Tampere, Bifan and Fantasia.
Recent films include AND THE BABY SCREAMED, which premiered at Encounters and WHO IS BILL, which was shortlisted from 1360 entries for DepicT! Film competition in September 2020. Their latest short film THE THING THAT ATE THE BIRDS was funded by the BFI and Gunpowder & Sky and produced by Rebecca Wolff and Jude Goldrei, and has screened at SXSW, Sundance London, and more than 70 festivals in 20 countries, 4 continents and won multiple awards. Sophie and Dan have been selected for the prestigious Network@LFF Development programme. Dan is a former Screen International Star of Tomorrow and Sophie, a John Brabourne Awardee. They are both former BFI x BAFTA crew members and now BAFTA Connect.
