Green light for Lisa Holdsworth’s DANCE SCHOOL

Created by Lisa Holdsworth and Theresa Ikoko, DANCE SCHOOL (working title) is an 8 x 30-minute coming-of-age drama that follows attendees of a Saturday dance class in Leeds, which brings together a diverse dance ensemble as they navigate the highs and lows of growing up in today’s world.

The show is produced by Leeds-based indie Duck Soup for Channel 4. Commissioner Caroline Hollick said: “Dance School is a heart-warming portrayal of the hardships young people are increasingly exposed to, but it’s equally a celebration of inspiring and authentic stories that will resonate with our viewers. It’s important that Channel 4 not only reflects the voices of the nations and regions but also continues to support growth and training to individuals.”

The production will offer 10 Leeds-based people who have no previous broadcast experience paid, full-time industry training placements, in conjunction with 4Skills and the National Film and Television School (NFTS).
