LIBBY BURKE WILDE

Libby is an exciting and talented Lancastrian director and photographer who has worked in the commercial and music video sectors for the past ten years, with artists such as London Grammar, Cat Burns, Lewis Capaldi, Arlo Parks and more.  After directing her first short film, METTLE in 2019, Libby went on to direct the acclaimed short film ABSENT in connection with period poverty charity Freedom4Girls. ABSENT received widespread praise and recognition for sensitively bringing an important issue to screens. Winning ‘Best Film for Change’ at BAFTA and BIFA qualifying, Bolton Film Festival, as well as Gold at Kinsale Sharks and scooping up two silver screen awards at Cannes Young Directors Awards in 2020. She went on to direct TINNED PEARS during lockdown in 2020, with charity Chefs in Schools, to similarly raise awareness about food poverty in the UK. It went on to win ‘Best Charity Film’ at Bolton Film Festival. Libby also took part in a panel for the festival about working class voices in film. She is currently attached to direct a couple of exciting narrative short form projects, and is signed with New Land TV for her commercial works.  She is currently developing a short film with playwright Luke Barnes, and shadow directed the series BETTER for BBC One, produced by Sister Pictures.  Earlier this year Libby released her latest short film EARLY TWENTIES, a cinematic rendering of the coming-of-age album of the same name by artist Cat Burns. The short narrativeis a mirror to the transformative years of your early twenties, touching on themes of mental health, friendship, queer love, and loneliness. The short film stars a wealth of emerging British acting talent:India Amarteifio (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story), Sam Reuben (Everything Now), Aiyana Goodfellow (The Outlaws), Melina Sinadinou (Beyond Paradise), and BAFTA-nominated Samuel Bottomley (How To Have Sex, Sundown).
